The beautiful Berkeley Art Museum and Pacific Film Archive on the UC Berkeley campus will host a screening of two contemporary Estonian films.

Pikad paberid (“Rolling Papers,” 2024) is an Estonian comedy-drama film about Sebastian, an unhappy young man who works in a small shop in Tallinn. His routine life changes when he meets Silo, a hedonist and a dreamer. Starring Mihkel Kuusk, Karl Birnbaum, Maria Helena Seppik, and Edgar Vunš, the film from director Meel Paliale was Estonia’s entry for Best International Film at the 98th Academy Awards. 98 minutes.

“Winter in March” (2025) is an acclaimed animated short film that took 3rd prize LA CINEF at the Cannes Film Festival in 2025. In this joint Estonian-Armenian-French production, a young couple leaves their home in the face of a repressive state - an escape that turns into a surrealist nightmare. 16 minutes.

Tickets will go on sale by BAMPFA later in the spring.

Come and be part of a unique and exciting afternoon that explores how we can cultivate resilience by strengthening democratic culture in this coming age of AI.   The session will convene experts  to share and discuss perspectives and will invite your participation.

The series of afternoon panels will explore interconnected questions, such as how to cultivate information resilience in an age of disinformation; how to integrate AI into education without undermining learning and human development; how to deploy AI within the state, while preserving trust and accountability; and how to strengthen societal level preparedness against all manner of threat and disruption.

Noorus Segakoor

Segakoor Noorus on väärika ajalooga, ent nooruslikust energiast pakatav kollektiiv, mis on asutatud juba 1959. aastal. Oleme osalenud edukalt mitmetel nimekatel konkurssidel – viimati pälvisime Eesti Kammerkooride Liidu festivalil A-kategoorias auväärse 3. koha. Oleme kollektiivina pühendunud kvaliteetse ja sügava sisuga muusika loomisele, et pakkuda kuulajale vaimu turgutavaid hetki ning leida koorimuusika traditsioonides uusi, inspireerivaid perspektiive. Koori repertuaaris on tähtsal kohal näiteks kodumaiste Arvo Pärdi, Veljo Tormise, Tõnu Kõrvitsa ja Ester Mägi, aga ka klassikute Claudio Monteverdi, James MacMmillani, W. A. Mozarti jt heliteosed.

USA kontserttuurile suundume 30-liikmelise esinduskoosseisuga, keda juhib meie armastatud dirigent Roland Viilukas.

The Puus Brothers

Kristi Roosmaa

Kristi Roosmaa on olnud laval alates viiendast eluaastast.

Ta omab magistrikraadi õigusteaduses Eestis, muusikateatri diplomit The American Musical and Dramatic Academy’st New Yorgis ning tantsusertifikaati Broadway Dance Centerist. Tema karjääri tipphetkede hulka kuulub esinemine koos Residente feat. Bad Bunny’ga saates “The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon”, sooloesinemine Carnegie Hallis ning Grammy®-nominatsiooni kaalutud “Kalevala the Musical” kontseptalbumi produtseerimine.

Rotalia Meeskoor

The troupe, founded in 1950, has performed at all of the West Coast Estonian Days, many world-wide ESTO festivals, many Tantsupidus in Estonia, as well as countless local and regional festivals. It is truly bearing the torch of Estonian dance, culture, and traditions.

In 1999, in Tallinn City Hall, she was awarded the Ullo Toomi Award for her work. This award is given by the Estonian Folk Dance and Folk Music Association each year to the most outstanding Estonian folk dance director of the year.
